UK and France strike ISIS targets in Syria
The United Kingdom’s Royal Air Force (RAF) has deployed its Eurofighter Typhoon jets to join French forces in a joint airstrike operation in Syria, targeting ISIS weapon depots and strategic strongholds in the country’s north. The mission marks an expanded role for Britain in multinational security collaboration and a renewed proactive presence in the Middle East
According to the UK Ministry of Defence, the operation was carried out using shared intelligence among NATO allies, with meticulous planning to minimize civilian casualties. France led the mission with its Mirage 2000 and Rafale aircraft operating from Middle Eastern bases, supported by British satellite data and reconnaissance aircraft
The primary targets were ISIS weapons storage facilities and supply routes near the Syria–Iraq border, areas still considered key operational zones for the terrorist group. Reports later confirmed that the strikes successfully destroyed multiple strategic objectives with high precision
Following the mission, the British Prime Minister declared that this joint action serves as “a symbol of European unity” in the continued fight against global terrorism, even as geopolitical uncertainties intensify around the world
Analysts say the move carries strategic significance, signaling London’s renewed assertiveness in Middle Eastern affairs after a period of domestic policy focus. The partnership with France also reflects strengthening regional defense ties amid ongoing political instability and the persistent threat of extremist violence.
